Review of Maker Faire Hannover 2024 <\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Quantum, furniture, mushrooms and digital manufacturing at the Maker Faire  <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Together with our partners, we had an exciting time at the Maker Faire on August 17\/18, 2024 in Hanover. At the joint stand, we presented a number of hands-on activities for visitors of all ages. The focus was on quantum sensor technology, which was presented by M\u00fcnster University of Applied Sciences, LMU, TUM, Fraunhofer IAO and HRW. Anyone who wanted to could try out quantum algorithms for quantum computing (LMU, TUM), test quantum experiment cubes (HRW, M\u00fcnster University of Applied Sciences) and develop their own ideas for quantum sensors (Fraunhofer IAO).

Biotechnology was also represented by mushroom material exhibits (Fraunhofer UMSICHT), bacteria-dyed textiles and hop-in hop-out workshops on edible mushroom cultivation and mushroom material experiments, the latest addition to the Fablab. There were long queues for wooden table mats that could be personalized using a hand-held CNC milling machine.

Our colleagues from Faculty 4 of the HRW and the Center for Digital Innovation showed how digital technologies are shaping the world of tomorrow and anyone who wanted to try their luck could spin the digital\/analog hybrid wheel of fortune from plaxite. We were particularly pleased with the positive response to our Morph3Dbot system and StackCube, our self-developed modular furniture system.  

Overall, the Maker Faire 2024 was a complete success from our point of view. We were able to inspire numerous interested parties for our projects and make important contacts. We were particularly pleased with the positive feedback on our hands-on activities. Together with our partners from TU Munich, LMU Munich, Fraunhofer UMSICHT, Fraunhofer IAO and M\u00fcnster University of Applied Sciences, we showed that Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences is a driving force in the world of makers and innovators.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
